About BeachSports- Kids Beach Camps

Our Mission

To teach the next generation of South Bay residents to respect, preserve and safely enjoy our local beaches and oceans while learning lifelong skills in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.

What We Do

Established in 1995, BeachSports offers educational Beach Camps & Skateboard programs designed for ages 4-15. Our program structure was designed by Los Angeles County Lifeguards and local elementary and middle school teachers to be inclusive, fun, educational and, most importantly, safe for all of our campers.

Our camps are offered in Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach and each location offers a variety of different program options to choose from, which we call “Camps”.  These Camps are Beach Camp, Surf Camp, Volleyball Camp, Jr. Lifeguard Program and Skateboard Camp. The curriculum for each program has been thoughtfully and strategically designed to accommodate campers of different ages, abilities and comfort levels and is implemented by CPR & First-Aid certified coaches.

Camp Options

Beach Camp

Starting at age 4, our beach camp is designed for our younger campers and those who want to experience a variety of beach activities, rather than focusing on just one. Our Beach Camp maintains an instructor to camper ratio of 1:6 and campers are divided into groups based on age with an instructor assigned to each age group. Beach Camp is the perfect program for those new to the beach and those looking for an introductory experience in a variety of beach and ocean activities. Many of our campers start in Beach Camp then join either our Surf Camp, Volleyball Camp or Jr. Lifeguard program once they’ve discovered a favorite activity.

Surf Camp

Surf All Day! Starting at Age 7, our Surf Camp is designed for first time surfers and those looking to take their surfing to the next level. Each Monday, Campers will be assigned to a Coach based on their experience level and will establish their surfing goals for the week. In addition to learning surfing techniques, campers will also be educated on other essential aspects of surfing including, wave formation, tides, rip tides and currents, etiquette, equipment and much more!  We provide a variety of different foam surfboards for campers to choose from ranging in size from 5’6″ to 8′ so campers can experience a variety of equipment throughout the week.  Intermediate surfers are welcome to bring their own boards.  We encourage a 5 day week but campers are welcome to drop in for single camp days.

Volleyball Camp

Starting at Age 7, our Volleyball Camp provides beginner to intermediate training in passing, hitting, serving, rotation and rules of the game. Campers are broken into groups based on experience with a 8 to 1 Camper to Coach ratio. We encourage a 5 day week but campers are welcome to drop in for single camp days.

Junior Lifeguard Program

Ocean safety and awareness education is a necessity for the kids of our beach communities. Starting at Age 8, our Intro to Junior Lifeguards camp is designed to educate and train our participants on the skills necessary to safely and confidently enter our oceans.  Unlike other Junior Lifeguard programs, we pride ourselves on providing a relaxed and fun environment with low instructor to participant ratios and smaller class sizes.  Although the lifeguard skills are being learned, we remove the competition intensity other programs strive for.

Skateboard Camp

Learn to skateboard or take your skating to the next level at our Skate Camp!  Our Summer Camp is designed for boys and girls, with or without skating experience, from age 5 to 16.  We provide beginner and intermediate level instruction starting from the very basic, getting from A to B, to intermediate tricks including ollies, flip tricks, grinds, ramp skating and much more!  Safety is our number one priority. All campers are required to wear a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and closed toe shoes.  Our coaches are First-Aid & CPR Certified and enforce strict safety rules. They are also very talented skateboarders with a lot of knowledge to share with their campers!  Don’t have pads or a skateboard? No worries!  We have some you can use.
