Beginning
of BeachSports
Founded in 1995 by LA County Lifeguards, BeachSports began as a youth beach and surf camp in the South Bay, created to give kids structured, safe education in ocean awareness and beach skills.
In 2010, Tommy Ostendorf reprogrammed and evolved the camp, keeping its core mission intact while shaping the programs into what BeachSports is today.
who we are
Tommy began teaching surf lessons at age 13 at the Manhattan Beach Pier and has been involved in youth programs ever since. A Mira Costa graduate, he later earned a business degree from USD, where he served as captain of the surf team and was a Collegiate National Champion in 2007. Tommy is passionate about mentoring the next generation, fostering a fun and safe environment where kids can build confidence both in and out of the water.
Libby manages Arena House and is the co-owner of BeachSports alongside her husband, Tommy. As a mother of three, she brings a thoughtful parent's perspective to everything we do. She is dedicated to creating a welcoming, well-organized environment where families feel confident and supported leaving their children in BeachSports' care.
With a ten-year tenure at BeachSports, Jenn is the backbone of our operations. She oversees all program locations, managing the hiring and training of our entire team to ensure the highest standards of care. As a former D1 collegiate soccer player, private school teacher, and mother of two, Jenn draws on her diverse background to lead the creation of our program curriculum. She is a constant presence during program hours, providing dedicated support to our families, Location Directors, and Head Coaches to ensure every child has a positive, impactful experience.
Lisa is the friendly voice behind BeachSports' customer experience. She ensures every family feels heard, valued, and taken care of from registration through program completion. With over 20 years at BeachSports, she brings unmatched experience and dedication to making every family's experience exceptional.
Macy brings the BeachSports story to life through creative marketing and authentic community engagement. With 10 years as a camper, 3 years as a coach, and 2 years as a Location Director, she has a deep understanding of what makes BeachSports special and shares that story through everything she creates.
Location Directors
Experienced LD with a strong background in teaching and education, who also leads high-impact sports programs for girls in under-resourced communities. She brings a structured, professional approach to camp while making sure every child feels supported and set up for success.
Middlebury College senior and varsity XC/Track runner studying Conservation Biology and Psychology. Lucca's leadership on her team carries into camp, where her thoughtful approach—especially around ocean awareness—helps kids feel both confident and safe.
Studying Strategic Communications at the University of Utah, Fletch brings humorous energy from drop-off to pick-up. He makes it a priority that every camper feels seen, included, and excited to come back each day.
University of Utah finance student who brings endless energy and a constant smile to camp every day. Rocco creates a positive, high-energy environment where kids feel encouraged to stay active and engaged.
San Diego State University senior studying Kinesiology Pre-Med, bringing a strong understanding of health, safety, and physical development to camp. Carly's background gives parents added confidence knowing their kids are in knowledgeable, attentive hands.
D1 volleyball player at Cal State Northridge and a high-energy leader known for her creativity at camp. Taylor is the mind behind the Hermosa Olympics, creating unique, memorable experiences that campers look forward to all summer.
Pepperdine University Business Administration student who brings a calm, steady presence to camp. Jason is especially great at building trust with kids, helping even the most hesitant campers feel comfortable and engaged.
